He returns the kiss, reaching up to thread his fingers in Istradez's hair.

Istradez leans against him, satisfied for the moment that he got his feelings out without actually touching on any issues.

He closes his eyes, sliding into his lap without another word, glad to have this as a lovely distraction.

Who needs to directly express their feelings when there's this instead?

Focusing on Istra also means that he doesn't have to think about other people bringing dead siblings back to life.
